TUESDAY TUTORING PROGRAM

DUE TO COVID 19 TUESDAY TUTORING HAS BEEN SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

This is our story.

The HERBB tutoring program ( Hospitality, Education, Recognition, Relationship Building) began four years ago with a request from a New American family for help with their children’s school work. This year we have 11 students (5 years old to 7th Grade) enrolled. We have an average weekly attendance of 10 students.  Fifteen adults, retired or active teachers (six not members of our church), gather Tuesdays in the United Presbyterian Fellowship Hall from 4:00-5:00 PM, to volunteer for the program.

These individuals minister in various ways:  transportation, snack preparation/serving, and individualized tutoring.  We have many books and activities to assist the children in learning reading, math, science; however, most students remember to bring homework from school-- incentivized with a small prize.  Prizes are mostly donated by the volunteers as are the weekly snacks and driver’s gas/vehicles.Members, feel free to stop by on Tuesday afternoon to see this UPC ministry in action.  This is truly sharing Christ love through service.

We believe that we were given a special purpose.

There is a volunteer place for everyone.  If you are interested in volunteering in this program please contact Rachel Holsten at 701-252-1748.

Our mission is very simple, but very important.
