UNITED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
UNITED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
OUR HISTORY
Before North Dakota was a state, before the city of Jamestown was incorporated, the First Presbyterian Church of Jamestown was preaching the Word of God, was administering the Sacraments, and was bringing spiritual guidance and comfort to its members and to the entire community. The First Presbyterian Church was the first formally recognized Church in Jamestown and was organized on December 5, 1879. The newly organized church’s first pastor was Rev. Neville D. Fanning who was installed in 1880. It was during his ministry that the congregation completed its first building in 1881; it was replaced by the current structure in 1914 and additional rooms for Sunday school and a chapel were completed in 1959. An elevator and office renovation project was completed in May 1998. The kitchen was updated with new flooring, fresh paint, and a lowered ceiling in 2002 and a beautiful new metal roof was recently installed. Our sanctuary was recently renovated in 2020-2021.
There have been many changes over the years, including a name change to United Presbyterian Church, but we remain a friendly Christ centered church that believes in serving Christ through serving others. Because of this belief . . .
We minister to each other by
We minister to the children and youth by
We minister to our members by
We teach each other through
We spread God’s Word through
Our mission is very simple, but very important
"Sharing Christ's Love Through Service"
